TEMPO Interactive , Jakarta - An archaeologist from the University of Western Australia, David Kennedy says there are 1977 historical sites are buried in Saudi Arabia. Though Professor in the field of Ancient History has never visited the country.

"We all know, not easy to visit the country," Kennedy said as quoted by the Telegraph, today.

He claimed to get this information when using Google Earth. In addition to finding thousands of historic sites, he also identifies the point there are 1082 springs located in between the rocks.

When knowing the possible historic sites and springs in there, Kennedy then asked a friend who works in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia to take pictures at the site in question.Search techniques such as this had previously been used to search for Iron Age and Roman sites in Britain, Nazca in Peru and the Mayan ruins in Belize.

It is not easy to get into the country, led by King Abdullah that. In 1994, Saudi Ulema Council issued a decision that it prohibits the excavation or the preservation of historical sites because it could lead to polytheism and idolatry. For the pagans and adherents of polytheism will be put to death.

But recently, some archaeologists are allowed to dig a few sites, and some of the biggest findings was the ruins of the Maidan Saleh, an old city of more than 2,000 years old at the Nabataean civilization.
